These Terms govern your use of ALTtext ("ALTtext," "we," "us"), operated by Twilightscapes, including the website at alttext.org and the browser extensions. By using ALTtext, you agree to these Terms.
The service
ALTtext generates written descriptions ("alt text") for images using AI. A free tier is available to everyone, subject to a daily usage limit. Paid plans ("ALTtext Pro") lift the limit and add features as described on ourpricing page.
Pro plans, licenses, and payment
- Individual is a one-time purchase for personal, non-commercial use, delivered as a license key.
- Team and Business / API are recurring subscriptions for commercial use, within the stated seat and usage limits.
Your license key unlocks Pro across the website and extensions on your devices. Please don't publicly share, resell, or redistribute your key, and don't exceed the seats or API limits of your plan. Payments are processed by Stripe; subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled.
Refunds and cancellation
You can cancel a subscription at any time and keep access through the end of the paid period. For one-time purchases, emailsupport@alttext.org within14 days if you're not satisfied and we'll refund you.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Submit content you don't have the rights to, or content that is illegal.
- Attempt to overload, scrape, or abuse the service or its underlying APIs.
- Resell ALTtext or present its output as a competing generation service.
AI-generated descriptions
ALTtext uses AI, which can be inaccurate, incomplete, or miss context. Descriptions are a starting point — you are responsible for reviewing and editing them before publishing, especially where accessibility or legal compliance matters. We don't guarantee any particular result or standard of accuracy.
Availability
We may change, limit, or discontinue features (including free-tier limits) and rely on third-party providers whose availability we don't control. We aim to give reasonable notice of significant changes.
Disclaimer & limitation of liability
ALTtext is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms; we'll change the "last updated" date above and note material changes on the site. Continued use means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of [your state / country], without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
